In 2015 4.5 million German citizens went on cycling holidays with about 31.5 million overnight stays. This corresponds to approx. 10 percent of the whole domestic tourism. Additionally there were about 150 million day trips on bikes.

The "German Unification Trail" (Radweg Deutsche Einheit)
The new trail is a connection between Bonn, former German capital, and Berlin Germanys capital nowadays. The route is about 1,100 km and leads through North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Brandenburg.
