Vienna wins European Mobility Week Award 2017

In 2017, the City of Vienna promoted environmentally friendly and multimodal transport through numerous initiatives and infrastructure measures. Events and campaigns motivated the Viennese to active mobility - walking, cycling and using public transport. This was rewarded by the EU Commission on 21 March 2018 with the "European Mobility Week Award".
The jury particularly highlighted the Streetlife Festival of Viennas mobility agency , the city’s its promotion of cargo bikes and the initiative “Grätzlrad” as well as its new infrastructure at the “Getreidemarkt”. Furthermore, Vienna offered an outstanding programme of more than 50 events and activities during the European Mobility Week between 16. and 21. September.
European Mobility Week
Since 2002, the European Mobility Week has sought to improve public health and quality of life through promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport. The campaign gives people the chance to explore the role of city streets and to experiment with practical solutions to tackle urban challenges, such as air pollution. It takes place every year between 16. And 22. September. With events and activities, cities have the opportunity to present sustainable mobility alternatives to local residents and to explain the challenges that cities and towns are facing. By taking part, towns and cities can showcase the benefits of cleaner transport choices and make progress towards better mobility in Europe.
