Norderstedt is taking a further step on its way to become a bicycle town - and at the same time making a contribution to climate protection: The city has purchased 15 electric transport bikes, which can be rented by citizens and guests in Norderstedt via the established "nextbike" rental bike system. The bikes complement the existing "nextbike" offers (normal bikes/cargo bikes without additional drive). The new electric cargo bike rental system operates under the name "e-TINK".
Norderstedt has been continuously promoting bicycle traffic for years. In addition to expanding the range of rental bicycles, Norderstedt is continuously investing in the bicycle infrastructure. Under the title "Pro Fahrrad Initiative", the city receives funding from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (National Climate Initiative NCI) for improvements in cycling.

The new two-wheeled electric cargo bikes carry a load of up to 80 kilograms in their transport box. The engine supports up to a maximum speed of 25 kilometres per hour. The bikes can also carry two children up to the age of seven. Bikes can be borrowed and returned at any of the existing rental bike stations in Norderstedt via the "nextbike" app or the "nextbike" hotline.

In order to create a special incentive, the first half hour of use per day is free of charge for registered customers. After that, each additional half hour costs one euro, with a maximum of nine euros per day. This means that the electric transport wheels are available at the same rate as for the "normal" bikes and the "TINK" cargo bikes.
