The municipality of Bremen together with the university of Bremen are planning Germany’s first cycling district in Bremen’s “Alte Neustadt”

Funded by the National Climate Initiative (NCI) by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety cycling conditions will be improved through lots of measures in cycling infrastructure, parking facilities, charging stations for e-bikes  and additional bike share stations.

Between Langemarckstraße, Osterstraße/Westerstraße, Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and Lahnstraße arise a district with particular consideration of cycling needs. Funded by the National Climate Initiative (NCI) by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety a total of 2,4 million Euro can be used for the cycling friendly redesign of the district. Through lots of measures cycling infrastructure will be improved, new bicycle parking facilities, charging stations for e-bikes  and additional bike share stations will be build.  Overall, the transport connections of the district will be improved. Not at least, there will be the construction of a bicycle repair café on the university campus. In 2019 all measures shall be finished.
