New train generation supplies eight spaces for bicycles
The 12-piece ICE 4 reaches a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour and has a total length of 346 meters. The train provides 830 seats, of which 205 are in the 1st class and 625 in the 2nd class.
Long introduction phase ensures quality
The ICE 4 stands for a new dimension of quality assurance: as the first high-speed train in Europe, it completes a several months introduction phase before it enters regular operation in December 2017. The aim is to test the train under real operating conditions for reliability of technology and systems. In the run-up to the project more than 250,000 test kilometers were completed.
Increased customer comfort
Many new equipment features ensure high customer comfort and relaxed travel. Families will find plenty of room and travel fun in the redesigned infant compartments and in the family area. The ICE 4 provides capacity for eight bicycles and four wheelchairs. Two lifts enable wheelchair users to enter and exit trains at all stations. The ICE 4 is already equipped with the new WLAN and telephony technology that DB will provide for its entire ICE fleet by the end of the year. This grants free Wi-Fi for economy class customers.
