The entire cycle highway will run on its own route and thus be separated from the rest of the road traffic. The cyclists do not have to cross any roads so that they can drive through the entire route. The separate guidance will considerably increase traffic safety. The first section should be completed by 2020.

The plans for the cycle fast track along the university campus have been underway since 2015. The route will be equipped with a dynamic lighting control system consisting of 31 LED lights and edge markings on both sides. The line is the beginning of a cycle highway from Warnemünde to the main station. The entire cycle highway will run on its own route and thus be separated from the rest of the road traffic. The cyclists do not have to cross any roads, so that they can drive through the entire route without stopping. The separate route will considerably increase traffic safety.

The total costs for the first construction phase are expected to amount to approx. 1.2 million euros. The Ministry of Infrastructure will take over 820,000 euros of this from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The first section is expected to be completed in summer 2020.
