BITS - Making European Bicycle Data Available
Students of Business Informatics at the University of Oldenburg (VLBA) present results on open European bicycle data
Project group Bicycle Data in the research project BITS: The student project group Bicycle Data at the University of Oldenburg (Business Informatics - VLBA) presented their final results on the analysis of European bicycle data in April 2021. The digital event, which lasted almost two and a half hours, was embedded in a BITS Academy, which took place within the framework of the EU-funded project BITS - Bicycles and Intelligent Transport Systems. Almost 200 participants from all over Europe had the opportunity to learn more about the potential of pre-processed bicycle datasets as well as to interact and give feedback on the project. For one year, the students worked intensively with the bicycle data from the research projects BITS and SmartHelm, the latter funded by the mFUND-programme of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). The results of the developed project website www.bicycle-data.de were presented in detail.
The BITS project: The BITS project is co-funded by the European Union's Interreg programme for the North Sea Region. This programme aims to create an impact on sustainable transport and green mobility. The project has ten partners from several countries around the North Sea. Among other things, they focus on cleaner air by reducing emissions. The aim is, for example, to increase the use of cycling by at least 10 percent
